As the mother of a pretty bright toddler, I'm humbled on a daily basis. Harry is constantly pointing to something and making a one-word yet incredibly observant or unique statement. It's also very humbling to earn a D+ on a quiz, which happened in the not too distant past.
Today, though, I bought a new hairbrush, and I used said hairbrush while drying my hair. All of a sudden, it was like I was using my feet or something. I was actually laughing at myself in the mirror, amused and yet amazed that something I've done thousands of times, something that I did automatically, was suddenly something of which I had to be so conscious. Hopefully this will be like driving a rental car -- at some point, I will get used to the sticky gas pedal.
